Dear ITI,

I just got my analyzer a few days ago and connected it to my Vista machine. About 30% of the times I start a trace, when I stop it there is no useful data, but just a lot of SOF packets or a device connect event. Do you possibly know if there is a way to prevent this from happening?

Other than that, the analyzer works very nicely and has helped me conduct efficient verifications and experiments in my product development.

What are your devices under test and what host operating system are you using on the link under test?

Make sure you start the capture before connecting your device under test (otherwise the 1480A unit will not be able to correctly configure the link speed).

Please also email the temp.usb capture file to support @ InternationalTestInstruments . com and we'll see what we can find out.

Is there anything you are doing different in the 30% of the captures that fail?

In general, if you are seeing valid SOFs in the correct speed then the 1480A is correctly capturing data. Is your host under test seeing the device under test in the bad scenario?
