Application Overview

The PC Analysis Software displays data as it is received from the USB Analyzer hardware so you will not have to wait for lengthy data decoding before you can start analyzing the captured data. As USB Transactions and Packets are captured, they will be decoded and added to the tree view in the PC Analysis software. This makes it very easy to understand the sequence of events in the captured data. Detail views display the details for selected Transactions and Packets in the tree view as they are clicked on. The PC Analysis software also decodes payload data in hex/ASCII format and displays it in the Payload View. The Node Finder View allows you to quickly move to interesting Device Requests, Transactions and Packets within the captured data. Finally, the Message View allows you to see all low-level bus event and data bytes as they are received on the Link Under Test. The Message View and Protocol View are always synchronized and time-stamped so it is always easy to locate the relevant information.

The 1480A USB Protocol Analyzer software does currently not include any class decoders that decode higher-level protocols specific to printers, harddisks etc. Captured data is still fully displayed but no class-specific decoding is currently done. The 1480A USB Analyzer is FPGA-based and as such fully programmable with each new software version. This means hardware upgrades are never needed as you later upgrade the software features.

The 1480A USB Protocol Analyzer Software runs on 32-bit (x86) as well as 64-bit (x64) Windows XP (SP2), Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 2003/2008. The software also requires the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 to be installed (already installed with all the above operating systems except for very early Windows XP/2003).
